Vision: inspiring a grander vision for humanity
Devas began with a vision - a grander vision for what we can all become. One that calls forth more of ourselves and the unique role we each have. It is time for us all to create a future that works for everyone.
Our belief
We recognise that the problems our society has created are interconnected. The challenges we face stem not from lack of resources or initiatives, but from our individual
Humanity
is at a point of choice. Either we can choose complicity – we
can allow the world to continue as it is, or we can choose something different.
The first choice is easy, we simply continue doing what we’re doing
and let the problems grow.
Our other option is to choose to think differently. We can live as if our
deepest beliefs about ourselves and our world really matter and we can
be a positive expression of those beliefs.
In Devas we understand the global issues. We also want to change the world. We want to see an end to human suffering, war, poverty and environmental destruction.
We decided to focus only and wholly on what we could influence at any one time; and to constantly expand that influence. We could go on saying, "But I’m too small to make a difference.", "Everyone else gets away with it, why shouldn’t I?" Or we can think different thoughts. We can ask ourselves this question every day:
"What would happen if my deeds today were multiplied by a billion other people?"
We recognise that any change has to start within ourselves, changing our world not the world. Living in authentic leadership and practising small acts of kindness and compassion is how we change our world.
We decided what we were able to do was create a unique environment in which people would feel nurtured, be encouraged to develop themselves, and discover the meaning of service - where passion meets purpose. When people operate from true service, and their actions are aligned with positive values, the outcome is always for the common good.
We committed to creating an organisation where people could express their unique skills and talents, step into authentic leadership and discover their purpose. As each person addresses issues close to their heart, different projects within Devas are created as expressions of their passion and commitment to inspiring a grander vision for humanity.
We created Devas by imagining how an organisation could be. We asked ourselves, "What kind of organisation would make our hearts sing?", "What kind of organisation would inspire people?", "What kind of organisation would create this unique environment?" A set of Values and Guiding Principles emerged which shaped this environment. As we developed the discipline to live these values moment by moment, magic happened.
In Devas we bring the highest expression of ourselves to our work, an example of integrity and values-based behaviour. We give people the space to reflect on whether they really live the values they speak and the courage to step into authentic leadership.
"Two men stood behind prison bars,
One saw mud,
The other saw stars."
We show that people have a choice, either to see the mud, or to see the stars. Only by daring to look at the stars, can we find real solutions to our problems.
What kind of difference do you want to make?
